How is the Price Determined?
by Ivo Cornel
Because at Framed.Photo we believe that the value of art should come from the artist, not from the system around them.
"Art doesn’t need a universal formula for value. It needs integrity, intention, and the space for artists to make their own decisions."
— Ivo Cornel
This approach gives every artist the freedom to decide what feels right. Some photographers choose to offer their prints at a lower price, because they want their work to live in as many homes as possible. They believe in accessibility, in spreading their art widely, in seeing it connect with people. Others prefer to sell at a higher price, because they are building a deeper connection with a smaller audience. For them, it’s about exclusivity, about finding collectors who are truly invested in their story.
Both choices are equally valid. That’s the beauty of it.
Art doesn’t need a universal formula for value. It needs integrity, intention, and the space for artists to make their own decisions. When a photographer decides their price, they’re not just setting a number. They’re expressing how they want their work to live in the world.
That’s what we believe in at Framed.Photo. We give photographers the tools, the platform, and the support to share their work but the art, its worth, and its journey will always belong to them.
Because value should come from the artist, not from the system around them.
Pricing art has always been a strange thing. Somewhere between meaning and money, it becomes both emotional and practical at once. For many photographers, it can feel like a guessing game. Too low, and your work feels undervalued. Too high, and it risks never being seen. But I’ve always believed there’s a more honest way to think about it.
At Framed.Photo, we believe that the value of your work should belong entirely to you. A gallery or a platform should never take a percentage of that. We didn’t contribute to your art. We didn’t stand beside you when you took the photograph, or spend the hours that went into creating it. What we offer is a service, not a share.
That is why we’ve kept it simple. We handle the practical side such as printing, framing, authenticating, and shipping. For that, we receive a fixed fee attached to the work. Everything beyond that is yours. The price of the artwork, its growth, that all belongs to the photographer.
